"Adviser" vs "Advisor"
A Note on Titles, & Why the Standard Behind "Adviser" vs "Advisor" Matters More Than the Spelling.
Thomas joined the IDA team in 2015. He earned a B.S. in Finance from the College of Business Administration at California State University San Marcos. Thomas currently holds his Series 65, California Life and Health insurance license, and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
Thomas plays a key role in advising IDA clients, specializing in customized investment strategies tailored to meet specific retirement, tax, estate, and insurance planning needs. He is motivated and fulfilled by building personal relationships with clients, especially by using those relationships to help them navigate life’s inevitable challenges and bring their comprehensive financial goals to fruition.
Thomas strives every day to truly have his client’s best interests at heart with every piece of advice, and appreciates how each client is truly supported by the collective strength of the entire IDA team. Thomas is also a member of IDA’s portfolio management team and investment committee.
Outside of work, Thomas dominates the basketball court (or so he claims), enjoys just about any sport involving water, and never turns down a family game night. Most importantly, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Nicole, and their two children, Kace and Gianna, exploring all that San Diego has to offer
My philosophy in both work and life is centered around building a legacy, creating something meaningful for my family while honoring the foundation that was built by my family members before me. I believe success is about carrying that torch forward, making the most of the opportunities you’ve been given, and leaving the next generation with an even stronger foundation to build upon.
“One of the best things about working with IDA is working with Thomas. He has been terrific. We completely trust him with all of our finances, and it's really made retirement easy for us. It's really different — we’re used to getting a bimonthly check, and all of a sudden that's not happening anymore. Thomas has it set up so that we get money from an account on a regular basis, and more money is readily available if necessary.”
